Classroom behaviours 1

Follow the link to the website of The Master Teacher: http://www.disciplinehelp.com/teacher/

This will take you to a list of behaviours to kick-start your discussion. (You can sign up for free for limited advice on how to handle difficult behaviour. A subscription fee must be paid for further advice. There are good support resources on offer so it may be an idea to subscribe.)

This website lists a large number of inappropriate behaviours, defines specific attitudes and actions of learners, provides suggestions how to identify the causes of the misbehaviour and what methods, procedures, and techniques to employ to help the learner to modify or change his/his behaviour.

It also mentions common misjudgements and errors in managing the learner that may perpetuate or intensify the problem.

Choose any three listed misbehaviours you would like to discuss with your student teacher; eg: The Interrupter, I Don't Care,The Noisemaker.

Think of the type of behaviours you are most likely to encounter.

Identify:

  • the specific attitudes and actions of this type of learner
  • the effect the behaviour has in class
  • the possible causes of the behaviour
  • strategies to handle the behaviour
