Observation and Feedback 

 

The purpose of this module is to explore the mentor teacher’s role in observing student teachers and in providing feedback to them on their performance. The unit examines the importance of establishing mutual expectations at the onset of the teaching experience. It also seeks to provide guidelines regarding the form of feedback that would be helpful to the student teacher.

By the end of this unit, you should:

  • understand that feedback requires a positive relationship between mentor and student teacher
  • understand the role feedback plays in developing reflection on practice
  • know how to provide effective feedback that facilitates reflection
