Spend a few moments recalling the different student teachers you have been allocated over the years.

In your journal, jot down the answers to the following questions:

Before the student teachers arrived at your school, what preparation did you do?
How long did you spend introducing yourself and your own teaching approaches to the student teachers?
What were the first questions you asked the student teachers when they arrived?
Which were the first documents you gave to the student teachers?
How were the student teachers introduced to fellow teachers? And to learners?
How much time was set aside to clarify school ethos and school policy?
To what extent have you dealt with your own teaching philosophy, your teaching strategies and theoretical approaches informing your methodologies?

Now that you’ve written down your answers, ask yourself the following question:
