Feedback

Feedback refers not only to the conversation between a mentor teacher and student teachers discussing the lesson after teaching. It includes feedback to the student teachers regarding the expectations that were set out initially, as well as how well they portray themselves in all aspects of school life. It includes observations of the student teachers’ attitude, work ethic, rapport with learners in general, the manner in which they respond to other staff members, their overall mindset, etcetera.

Feedback on lesson observation should happen on the same day as the actual lesson as far as possible and should include both oral and written feedback. It is not feasible to give written feedback on all lessons but ensure that you provide at least oral feedback on all teaching.

Watch the following short videos (if you have an Internet connection) on classroom teaching. What oral feedback would you give to the respective teachers?
