What is meant by an eco-system? 

The Ecological System Theory (Bronfenbrenner) posits that the qualities of a child interact with the environment the child inhabits. Both influence growth and development. The individual development of children must be understood in the context of these multiple environments - or ecological systems

 

We can apply this theory to the contexts in which student teachers find themselves. They face various environmental contexts which they need to understand and master. Each of these systems inevitably interacts with and influences the other.
