Integrated Quality Management System (IQMS)

In terms of a teacher’s performance, the DoE uses the Integrated Quality Management System (IQMS). The IQMS is an integrated quality management system that consists of three programmes, which are aimed at enhancing and monitoring performance of the education system (DoE, 2017).

These are:

  • Developmental appraisal
  • Performance measurement  
  • Whole school evaluation

The South African Council of Educators (SACE) has furthermore implemented a professional development programme for teachers called Continuing Professional Teacher Development (CPTD).
